by allegedly assaulting a photographer and trying to destroy his equipment by attempting to knock it out of his hand. According to the photographer:
… this friday he tried to knock a video camera out of my hand forcible, striking my hand and then the camera. I called the LAPD to come out and talk to him I declined pressing charges on … for assault and battery at the time keeping with a reasonable approach taking up the matter with the Venice Neighborhood Counsel, and Los Angeles City Councilman.
The Venice Farmers Market operates on PUBLIC SPACE much in the same manner as Union Station DC and Downtown Silver Springs, both of which were forced to rescind photo bans on that basis.

Have a story to share that we did not cover? Want to discuss something in greater detail? Want to compare Nikon vs. Canon? Post it in our forum - all are welcome.

If it was me, I’d press charges against the guy.
The Venice Farmer’s Market is in a Los Angeles City public parking lot and you say you were assaulted by the person running the market. The Venice Neighborhood Council is a volunteer -mostly NIMBY- group acting as an advisory body to a City Council that chooses when to listen. Assault is a legal matter that starts with a police report and might even require an attorney – unless all you really want is to hear yourself (and others) talk.
Ms Kennedy:
We are not related to the person who claims this happened to him, hence the use of the word “allegedly”. We are simply quoting the photographer who posted this story on several Flickr discussion groups.
If you wish to challenge the person who made this claim go to:

Our interest in this story is that we feel that the operators of the market have no right to ban or suppress photography since they operate in public space.
