Yet another photographer was harassed for taking pictures in New York City. This time at Battery park and the offenders were the Federal Park Police who crudely barked orders. The photographer states:

When I went for the third shot that’s when the Fed Park Police got in my face that I was not allowed to photograph the ferry pulling in.

There are NO LAWS prohibiting the taking of this picture. The treatment that the federal and local authorities are dishing out to tourists and photographers is downright disgusting.

  • NYC needs the kind of “shoot in” that was recently held in Long Beach, or on BART, etc. Moreover, sometime one of these photographers needs to carry a digital voice recorder and ask one of these officials, “Do you stop everyone from photographing the ferry docking,” or something like that, and when they say “yes,” then there’s the basis for a class action (for which a successful attorney would receive fees from the losing party — i.e., the government) seeking an injunction.

  • HLW says:

Let me know the next time you’re shooting this; I’ll go with you!
