This isn’t a story about photographer’s rights but we thought it worth a mention. Effective immediately Kodak has announced that it will no longer manufacture Kodachrome film.. Film? What’s that? You mean people still use it?

According to the article Kodachrome’s appeal was its rich and vibrant colors but it is too complex and not worth producing for an ever diminishing customer base:

Kodak first introduced the amateur film in 1935 and it quickly became the world’s first commercially successful color film. In its heydey in the 1960s, the unique film was adored by many baby-boomers for its rich but realistic tones, vibrant colors and durability. The film stock gained such popularity that it became the subject of a 1973 Paul Simon song that pleaded, “Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away.”

The Digital revolution moves on although it is kind of sad to see film fade away…
