“Railfan Windows” in New York are fading fast. The term “railfan window” refers to the clear front window of a subway train that is accessible by the general public. As the subway cars are being replaced with new models that have full width cabs the general public will no longer have the pleasure of looking out the front. Because this view is not going to be available in the near future many railfans are taking video from the front window to document and preserve the view for future reference and enjoyment. It appears that the NYPD is engaged in a deliberate, mean-spirited and vicious campaign to prevent this from happening.
